Forward Vision Systems, Inc. today announced
that the Company has donated a complete
EVS-100 System to the Lindbergh Foundation's
32nd Annual Award Celebration, to be auctioned
as part of the Foundation's fundraising efforts
at Sun n Fun on 14th April.
Dr. Patrick Farrell, President and CEO of
Forward Vision, stated, "I'm pleased that
Forward Vision is able to support the fine
efforts of the Lindbergh Foundation in seeking
technological solutions to environmental
challenges facing us in aviation," adding, "I
think Charles and Anne Morrow Lindbergh would
have been supportive of Enhanced Vision's
applications in General Aviation aircraft, given
the safety advantages it provides the pilot."
EVS systems--commonly known as infrared or
thermal imaging cameras--turn night into day for
the pilot and help to penetrate haze, light fog,
smoke and precipitation and up to 8 to 10 times
further than the human eye. The Forward Vision
EVS 100 provides pilots with an infrared 40
degree wide by 30 degree high field of view; the
EVS 600 adds to that the ability to distinguish
visible lights associated with runway/helipads
which is fused to the infrared image and
presents both as a single image on the display.
Expressing his gratitude on behalf of the
Lindbergh Foundation, Board Chairman and CEO
Larry Williams said,"Last year we recognized
Forward Vision's efforts in promoting safe and
efficient flying in limited visibility by naming
the Company one of our Aviation Green Partners.
We are deeply grateful that Forward Vision
continues to offer support to the Lindbergh
Foundation, which we see as win-win-win--the
third being all pilots interested in General
Aviation."
The EVS System being offered includes the
infrared camera, a Flight Display Systems
"flipper"
display, and the STC kit for installation--a
retail value of nearly $19,000.00 It will be
offered to the highest bidder as part of the
Lindbergh Foundation's "Silent Online
Auction",
http://www.lindberghfoundation.org/docs/index.php/component/content/article/40/394-2010-on-line-auction-temp,
which opened on April 5th and will close on
April 12th.
"There's an interesting twist to this year's
auction", noted Williams, "in that there will be
the opportunity for attendees at the Award
Celebration will have the chance to bid "live"
as well. We're anticipating some lively bidding
to take place in real time, at the very last
minute, so it should be especially exciting for
our crowd at Sun n Fun," he added.
